Menallen Monthly Meeting
Since its founding almost 250 years ago, members have worshiped weekly in the Quaker unprogrammed tradition of silent worship. There is not a hired pastor or prepared liturgy; instead, every person can share their inspiration as they feel moved by God to do so. Although we do not require adherence to a particular creed of beliefs, we do share the values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality. These are manifested in the activities in which we participate, both as a meeting and individually.
At Menallen Friends, we are deeply involved in community outreach as needs appear. We work with other area churches, such as Johns Meals School Backpack Program which provides food every weekend to families in Upper Adams.
Menallen Meeting is pleased to be a part of the National Park Service's National Network to Freedom, which commemorates sites that were actively involved in the Underground Railroad. We preserve this rich heritage by continuing to meet the spiritual needs of our members and others in our community of worship; reach out to all faiths in a spirit of fellowship and understanding; engage in community outreach; and maintain the physical assets that have been entrusted to our care.
For almost 50 years, Menallen operated a preschool. Sadly, we're not able to reopen at this time.
Menallen Monthly Meeting is a member of Warrington Quarter and Baltimore Yearly Meeting.
