Menallen Monthly Meeting was founded in 1748 as a preparative Meeting by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and became independent in 1780. It is an active spiritual community that supports its members and the surrounding community. In addition to weekly worship, we have a monthly spiritual study group and other activities including community outreach. Menallen Monthly Meeting is a member of Warrington Quarter and Baltimore Yearly Meeting. These larger bodies of Quakers have been active in looking at the meaning of anti-racism within our organizations and how to remove barriers to participation for people of diverse racial backgrounds. We recognize that this is a slow and painful process, as we all have racial biases built-in to our thinking and moving within our culture. We are all troubled by the ongoing violence and injustices against People of Color throughout our world, and believe that of God is in each person no matter what their ethnic background.
Members are involved in local, national, and international community action to promote peace and justice in our world.
