Menallen Preschool
Menallen Friends Preschool is a non-profit morning nursery program under the care of Menallen Monthly Meeting. The school strives to be a learning place rather than a teaching place. The primary goal is to help young children use this environment productively and see themselves as capable  learners – as individuals who are developing the skills and knowledge that will enable them to make sense of the world and succeed in it.   To accomplish this goal the program focuses on developmental progress, meaning that each child is allowed to learn at his or her own pace.  Our focus is to instill and nurture a love for learning while meeting the individual needs of each child.  The planned environment is specifically designed to promote the social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of a preschooler.

Parental Involvement & Communication

Weekly lesson themes are communicated to parents sharing songs, stories and finger plays to continue the learning partnership at home. Progress reports are shared mid-term with the parents and in May with the kindergarten teacher.  There are opportunities for parental involvement, such as show and tell assistants, substitutes, field trip drivers and decorators.

Superb Location

Located in upper Adams County, the school provides an excellent opportunity for nature studies, science lessons, outdoor play and simple gardening. Field trips and visitors that help the children to learn about how the community is interconnected provide a  well rounded program of experiential learning.
