The
children in our First Day School range in age from three to ten.
Their program starts with ten minutes of silence with the adults in
Meeting for Worship
and then progresses to a varied curriculum that teaches Quaker values. Allison Singley is the director of the First Day School and all Friends are encouraged to participate in lesson planning and teaching.
Currently, The children are finishing a semester on the parables and next will be working
on a sculpture for the local Arts Fest, with the theme, “Peace ~ Let It
Begin With Me”. A member who writes children's books reflecting Quaker values has recently read from his latest works. The curriculum is
relaxed and visitors can easily join.
